I wasn't sure if I was going to get a skinny piece of scrap or a solid piece and I got a whole piece. The only thing I don't understand about this product is how I should attach the center support piece. The instructions show you how to install the hardware, but if you attach the hardware and support to the sides, you cannot attach it to the top. The same thing happens in reverse if you attach it to the top first - you can't get the hardware on the sides. I just slide the piece in and it rests on top of my cable box with the sides still staying properly separated, although I'm pretty sure it has more to do with the top warping. I think my setup is finally looking good and I know more. I have a cable box on the side and I now have extra space for remotes when not in use. And no, that's not a scratch on my TV, that's a reflection of the chandelier wires that I tied together with zip ties.
