This is my first serger. I did quite a bit of research and realized I wanted a cover stitch and an overlock together. After reading all the reviews I took the plunge and chose this one. I took an hour to review it and found all the helpful videos on YouTube. Did it and it was amazing. For four test stitches. On the fifth pass, the seams sagged for a second, and then the seams started to look weird. Somehow the stitch plate needle caught and stuck right into the overcasting seam, bulging at the exit. It turns out, that these needles are glued in and not very tight. I called SewVacDirect and received great customer service. The crazy thing is I had to replace the entire needle plate - I couldn't replace just one needle. SewVacDirect offered to send a UPS label to pick up the machine or ship me a new part. I chose a new part as it was easy to fix but was out of stock. About a week later they sent me a new one and started sewing again. I sewed through my pants and shirt sleeves and the same thing happened! Talk about disappointment! This time, however, the straight needle came loose and did not buckle at the exit. So I decided to get a little creative. I took some epoxy and very, very carefully poured this thing. Voila! Now it works like a charm. I would say it's something very small. as it was easy to fix but it was out of stock. About a week later they sent me a new one and started sewing again.
