I previously bought a nice three tier carpeted perch and was hoping my cat would accept it as a scratching target. No, instead she went to get the sofa and also gnawed holes in the carpet next to her tray (?). When she also started scratching the (home) carpet, I knew I needed a new solution. Not expecting much, I decided to try this cardboard scraper. As soon as I put her on the floor, she lay on it and scratched. She uses it 6-10 times a day and sometimes even sleeps on it. (I definitely recommend the wide version.) She hadn't shown any interest in catnip before, but I sprinkled the included catnip on top, just in case. I don't know if it's catnip or cardboard but it's an absolute winner in my home! I will buy another one to have ready when this wears out. (Looks like it will be VERY durable.)
