These lights are a fire hazard. The day we received them my son plugged them in to make sure they were working. He played around with the remote a bit, changing colors and patterns while they were still on the plastic spool. He turned them off and left, but they were still plugged in. After about an hour it smelled like burnt plastic. When we discovered where the smell was coming from, we found that the LED strips were on and they got so hot that the plastic spools they were on completely melted! The AC transformer felt very hot and the LEDs started falling off the tape because the solder had melted. We are so fortunate that we discovered this extreme fire hazard while we were at home and we are lucky they didn't burn our house down. DO NOT BUY! They're coming back today, melted coils and all.
