Compared to a grater that you place on a plate and move food (cheese, potatoes, etc.) up and down, this grater is much easier to use! The suction works at first but shuts off after a minute or so and you can easily reset it in the middle of a grind if this happens, but it can still be used even if it loses suction. I tried slicing smoked cheddar with a slicer and it didn't come out sliced. There were small pieces like slices but mostly crumbs. Maybe it's more for slicing potatoes, which I haven't tried with this tool. Overall, I like this tool and would recommend it.
