My Mazda dealer installed this and a 2" curt receiver on the new 2021 CX-5 Signature I just bought. one was well done. The technician who installed this said it was a good choice and he said the installation was very easy and logical. the hot wire to the rear 12v cigarette socket as Kurt does NOT want it per the installation instructions. The hot wire should go to the battery compartment under the hood. The technician said it would be safer and more reliable to connect the wire to the battery since that leg of the circuit would be more stressed. Given that I can use that rear cigarette lighter seat for other accessories, it all makes sense. Maybe I'll upgrade my trailer to all LEDs at some point. Both the service advisor and the tech warned me not to use the labels and they wanted to follow Kurt's installation instructions for this wiring harness, including the black hot wire that should go to the front of the car. It was - according to the book, period! - There is enough length to connect the wiring harness and everything is stowed in the rear wheel well where the spare wheel is located. No complaints and if the Mazda technician says the product is great and the installation was the same, that's enough for me! 5 stars in all respects and no complaints.
