Review on ๐Ÿ”’ Premium 4 Quart Camwear Polycarbonate Round Food Storage Container: Durable and Versatile by Angela Wash

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Nice but very big.

I think most people who buy this probably have "flour, water, salt, yeast" just like me. This is a solid recommendation from the book and I'm glad I have it. However, I have a few comments. First, 12 liters is a lot. For bread baking I'd probably prefer around 8 liters, but I think larger cooking utensils are usually better, so I'll leave that out. Second is the BPA warning that others have commented on. Unfortunately, life with plastic is not always good. If I've kept something for a very long time, I might worry. When I learned about BPA and BPA-free plastic, I realized that other than glass, there really aren't any really harmless alternatives. The lack of BPA simply means that manufacturers are replacing BPA with another chemical that is likely to be just as harmful. Acidic foods leach out more of these chemicals, so I wouldn't store tomato sauce in it (that would be a lot of sauce!). So I took a practical look at what I would be using this bath for (baking bread about every two weeks) and figured I could manage the "risk". I like that it is transparent, light weight, durable and there are lids for it. Large handles are also very good.

Pros
  • Beautiful construction
Cons
  • Vulgarity
