Review on 🛁 Grey OXO Good Grips Silicone & Stainless Steel Tub Stopper by Jerry Gonzalez

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Doesn't work very well. Better than nothing but the best I can say about it

Sounds great but won't stay in place when the tank is full of water to keep it full while bathing). I have tried 2 different ways: 1 with the original drain plug completely removed leaving a simple drain hole open. That worked the worst. The OXO silicone itself wouldn't stay down the drain (despite being the right size) - no matter what I tried - so I had to leave the water running (or turn on/off) to fill the tub.2. With replacing the original bath plug and using an OXO plug on it (the original plug still works and goes up and down when you turn the drain handle, but it never held a tight seal (even when new) what forces me to use water to refill the tub when bathing, and hence the reason I bought OXO). With a little effort, I was able to achieve a tight seal with the OXO (twisting the release knob and lifting the original plug slightly - creating downward suction that holds the OXO silicone in place - and then lowering). again) Unfortunately, this method requires checking the cork every 5-10 minutes and repeating the process over and over again (the seal unfortunately didn't last long. but you have to fiddle with the drain several times during the "relax"). Bath missed I wouldn't buy it knowing what I know now (I thought the OXO version would be better because of the metal center piece (it's just colored plastic or silicon that looks like metal on competitor models), that in theory should have a weight to hold the cork if the seal isn't adequate due to runoff and water weight.) I think an old fashioned rubber stopper with a metal ring on top to lift it (like we had when I was a kid war) is the way to properly seal the tub drain.

Pros
  • Drain Plug
Cons
  • Crumpled Packaging
