Review on 📡 Metra Electronics 44-PW22 Universal Motorized AM/FM Power Antenna, Fully Automatic - Black by Oren Perry

I bought this to replace the trunk mounted antenna in a Mercedes Benz R107. As soon as I took it out of the box I saw that the rubber grommet where the wires enter the controller was just dangling. The bushing had to be installed into the hole when the cover was installed on the unit. Without this bus, water will enter the controller and eventually the device will fail. As others have reported. I removed the 3 screws from the cover, replaced the rubber grommet and put the cover back on. I plugged it in and tested it before installing. Now for the installation I had to enlarge the hole to accommodate this antenna but it went in and works fine. The instructions do not specify how big the hole should be and no template is provided! Also not thrilled with the choice of mounting material but it works as it should. I'll say that - once installed, it's LOUD even in my carpeted trunk! In addition, the motor will continue to run for about 3 to 4 seconds after raising or lowering. Otherwise it costs $$.
