After reading bad reviews of other cake toppers/carriers/storage the high ratings for this item made me hope that it would work. nope! This won't work for a 9 inch double layer ice cream cake. When I received the package I checked the clips to make sure I understand how it works before putting the cake in. Made a 2-tier cake, 9" round, frosted, ready to take out, and it was already on the bottom plate, ready to put the lid on. Imagine my shock and horror when I lowered the lid and saw it touch the edges of the cake! And he also touched the top of the cake, breaking the icing in some places. I figured it was my fault and maybe the cake wasn't exactly centered so I moved the cake to the center and tried again. nope! It touches at least 1 side and top and the clips won't get stuck! It might work for a 1 layer cheesecake or 1 layer cake or for transporting cupcakes or maybe a pie but it won't work for a 2 or 3 layer cake and honestly I wouldn't even trust it , to transport cupcakes or cakes , you can't hold it by the handle at the top and carry anything in it. I wouldn't trust the clamps to stay clamped with anything in them. If you take the risk of carrying something with it, always keep it underneath. So disappointed that it didn't work, I was really hoping it would.
