bright but the radiation pattern is pretty bad, the thermal performance is pretty bad too

they were installed in a cx-5 mazda with projectors, the radiation pattern has no clear cut off and the light is everywhere. The "bulbs" are not 30W each, but rather 22W and that is the input for the LED controller. With all the inefficiency, the "bulb" is probably closer to 17-18W. After the "bulb" ran on the bench for about 20 minutes, the LED controller got quite hot, measured with a Fluke IR, It "read" 75Β°C (I used a piece of black tape measure to keep the reading accurate) or temperature rise of 50Β°C compared to ambient. and that's pretty low power considering it's potted inside and the components are probably running at around 90-100C. If you live in a hot place, the controller will most likely fail prematurely due to overheating. The fan used to cool the "light bulb" is pretty anemic, no limit, it's rated at 4 cfm, in reality it's probably blowing maybe 1-1.5 cfm. It is also not dustproof and moisture-proof, if the "bulb" is not hermetically installed in the headlight, then it dies from moisture and dust rather quickly.

Pros
  • absolute legend
Cons
  • protection
