Review on EVGA X299 Intel Motherboard 151 SX E299 KR by Muleme Bollinger

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great 9980xe overclocking board - with actively cooled 4m.2 PCIe slots.

Got 12200+ on CPUZ test. First you have to manually go through the bios to set the speed of the built-in fans (m.2 slots and VRM fans, otherwise they howl), which you can just work with. Uses AsRock, Gigabyte, MSI, Asus on other builds. For the x299 series of chips, this is the best I've found. In our lab they run consistently at a clock multiplier of 45 (factory 30), they fluctuate between 28c and 58c when running a size 360 watercooled with triple Noctua fans. The VCM actually has a decent heatpipe too. The only dubious point is where the m.2 cooling comes out. This is a sealed cooling system for two m.2 SSDs. PCIE 4 can get very hot, so active cooling is great. You should have fired it straight from the back of the mobo. I'm not sure why they did it that way, because the air has to rotate 90 degrees. The pace looks good so no complaints. solid board.
