Let me start by saying I'm not a 'knife guy' but I understand the need for a good blade when hiking, camping or just tossing in the glove box. I don't want a disposable knife or something Chinese from the department store, I want something I can look forward to for years or decades to come. You can see right away that the stock of 1/4 inch blades lets you know this is a functional and handy tool that is unlikely to let you down. It came out of the box sharp enough to shave off my arm hair. It was wild. to see how much sharper I can make it. What's doubly important here is that this is a beautiful knife. There's a blade for every task, and there's no such thing as a "perfect blade" for everyone, but that's close to me. Small enough for everyday use if you want, but big enough to handle some of the more demanding tasks. Tough enough for some really tough jobs if you have to, but small enough to work on the finer details. The weight and balance are really good for me too. The EESE pedigree won me over.
