Brass and steel will last a very, very long time in most environments and with good care. The membrane inside doesn't last as long, but if stored properly, it will last for years. I used one of these styles on my sweat tag and have to admit it has been used and stored in the sun and Mojave Desert temperatures. i am 6 years old that's six years, 7 days a week of heat, light and tons of ultraviolet light. Definitely not ideal conditions for the device. It still works, but it's starting to fog up and go crazy like headlights. Is it the same brand? NO, is it made of the same material and looks the same? YES SIR . if I had to guess the same manufacturer and different sellers. Ultimately, I believe in this design.
