The fancy flush valve in our Kohler toilet suffered when I put a cleaning "tablet" in the toilet bowl. There is a warning in the tank about using pills but I'm smarter than that. Until bubbles formed on the silicone as the others have reported. The original took almost three years with my bullying. I bought a spare and a few spares to keep using the tablets. The installation went quickly. Turn off the water supply and flush the tank down to the level. The purge valve is released so that it rotates and can be removed. Slide out the old washer, insert the new washer, install the purge valve by twisting slightly until it clicks into place. Turn the water back on. No leaks. The lid goes to the tank. Should be fine for a few more years.
