Light ok, seal no.

I bought this to fix a terrible third brake light problem on a Ford F-150 of a certain year. When I first received and installed it, it had a thick seal. I've worn it literally less than a week since I received it and during the first rain, not even heavy rain, I noticed that the leak in my ceiling was even worse with this new light than the old one that had it replaced. When I took it off to see the problem the gasket, which was quite thick and spongy like it was a week ago, was now flat and hard and didn't do anything/didn't seal at all. First off it wasn't an expensive flashlight so I wasn't expecting much but I expected it to last over a week and nearly ruined which is very expensive and painful to repair. Advice to all people who have a Ford F-150 with this third bark/rear cab leak issue. Ford itself will not help at first. The replacement light is really expensive and the gasket isn't much better and will eventually fail just like the original. Using silicone or sealant around the headlight as some even Ford are suggesting to seal it is a bad idea, the truck will flex and the silicone will eventually crack or create a hole or tear and then it will trap water and make the problem worse and also ruin your paintwork. The point is to sand and repaint the entire area. The best solution I've found works so far with two consecutive rainy days since the end. Use a cheap new lamp you bought online, but remove the sealant and replace it with a self-adhesive 3/4 wide x 1/2 inch thick RV sealer you can get at any hardware store for $10 for 10 feet . and use your original factory mounting screws and clips as the ones bought online will either not come with them or will not work. And Ford wants to charge a ridiculous amount for just 2 bolts and 2 small clips.
