I bought this camera because I got tired of lugging around 12 pounds of Canon gear on long arduous hikes in the mountains to take nature and landscape photos. I also chose the E-M5 over the newer E-M1 because I didn't need the extra features or increased weight and bulk of its new sibling, and here at Revain the E-M5 is available for almost half the price. Price E-M1. He showed excellent results. Dynamic range was excellent when shooting in RAW format (recommended as always). The detail is impressive and I would say that the images I get from this camera without sharpening (in combination with a Panasonic 7-14mm f/4 lens) are sharper than the images from my Canon with sharpening. in the same league as full frame. It is said to be comparable to the Nikon D7000, which is very good. You can safely shoot at ISO 6400 in most conditions, but I stick to the base ISO (100) most of the time. Avoid diffraction, which results in faster shutter speeds (with better grip) and lower ISOs (great too). It also means you can shoot in focus at f/5.6 for almost anything. This makes the M43 a great choice for landscape photography where low ISO, fast shutter speeds and deep depth of field are the assets! These features, combined with the camera's best-in-class built-in image stabilization, enable handheld shooting in situations where full-frame Canon or Nikon cameras require a heavy tripod to capture sharp images. I've been shooting at over a second manual shutter speed with sharp results, which surprised me a bit. All in all, after months of shooting with this camera and my full-frame Canon side-by-side, I've found my Canon gathering dust in my bag, sitting in my closet on most trips, and I can't wait to upgrade my M43 lens Collection. It's a lot of fun to take pictures with it and you really enjoy taking pictures even more. Highly recommended.
