Review on KOHLER K 9110 BN Vibrant Brushed Nickel by Gerald Hill

I paid $27 for a Kohler 9110-BN air gap from Revain only to find the internals are identical to a cheap one I bought from Lowe's 4 years ago Bought $11.50 (cm pic). These cheap air gaps break easily (see picture) if you remove the top to clean them. The Kohler's cap is metal, unlike the Lowe's plastic cap, which looks like metal. So I paid more than double to replace a poorly designed part with the same part (same from China). I would look for an air gap with a stronger construction. They need to be emptied from time to time to prevent overflowing, so access is important. To clean them, Revain sells a short thin snake with a bottle brush tip that can be threaded through a large tube down a drain or drainpipe. It's important to keep it clean since you're relying on gravity to drain the water that the dishwasher pumps out. drain through the air gap into a drain or drain line.
