I have used these bags to vacuum seal 2 separate Twin XL memory mattresses so the following is from personal experience. Is this bag intended for vacuuming? no Can it be used for vacuuming? Yes. The first thing I would recommend is the YouTube video How to Return or Move a King or Queen Foam Mattress Part 1 for a professional guide on how to do it. First put the mattress in the bag. Insert the hose of a vacuum cleaner or shop vacuum into the corner of the lid and then close the lid. Use tape to seal the edges. Keep in mind that it doesn't have to be pretty and it doesn't have to be perfectly airtight. Make sure the vacuum hose is pressed against the mattress, otherwise the plastic of the bed will be sucked in and prevent air from escaping the bag. Also, make sure you can pull the hose out when you're done. Okay, once the seals are tight enough and your hose is in, turn on the vacuum and start sucking air. Begin walking on the mattress to push the air out. Once it's flat, start rolling it up from the bottom in the direction of the vacuum. It's usually much easier with two people. Leave the vacuum cleaner on. Once you are on top and rolling it up, use LONG pieces of tape to wrap it around the back to keep it from unfolding. When you're done, turn off the vacuum, pull out the tube and quickly cap the hole. Stand the vacuum bag up and use some more tape to wrap the mattress in several places. You can also use a moving band wrapped around it. Well as it's not designed to be vacuum sealed and may not be 100% sealed you can blow it up a bit but all the packaging tape and straps will hold it up. mostly compressed. See my photos as proof.
