Quick install Read all instructions. The sensor works quickly, a drop of water is enough. The sensor is wrapped in a paper sleeve that is so thin that water can penetrate and get onto the sensor. If you lose it, wrap the sensor in a paper towel. The backup battery works. Remember to replace the 4 AA batteries at least once a year, or better yet, unplug the unit and press the buttons on the shut off valve to ensure the valves are working. Our washing machine's flood sensor failed and flooded 3 rooms in 20 minutes, resulting in a loss of about $10,000. This is a solid unit.
