I purchased this item after I was unable to prevent water from entering the passenger footwell through the hood vent just behind the hood. I removed the sheathing, cleaned it and freed the drain hose so it could flow freely. In the end, after heavy rain, I still had water-filled legroom. I think it could also be a slight incline to the passenger side where my jeep is sitting in the driveway, water should never fill up like that anyway. So I mounted this vent cover. Now we've had two or three full days of heavy rain and wind, these storms usually leave two or three inches of water in the jeep. This bone is dry. Not a drop of water can be seen on the rubber mats. This is an easy fix to a leak problem if you have one. I would also recommend cleaning under the hood before proceeding with the installation as it can get frustrating.
