Review on 🪒 Dovo Straight Razor Kit by Carolina

I ordered a stainless steel bracket for extra weight and durability. What I received was an aluminum model. Now the price difference is only $1 (at the time of writing this review) and isn't really worth the hassle of shipping it back for a replacement or even a refund, so I decided to go ahead and give it a try. Ouch! This isn't the first time I've shaved with a straight razor, although it's been a few years (switched to DE safety razors for convenience). However, there are some skills that you just won't lose, even if the skill is a little less. Maintaining a light touch and paying close attention to what you're doing when you've got a blade to your throat is one of them. I didn't have that many leaks the first time I tried shaving with an old razor I bought at a pawn shop, sharpened myself and didn't even cut my hair (didn't know any better at the time). The aluminum holder is too light so I had to use more force to get through the mustache. Add to that the blade shifting due to the insert not holding the Derby DE blades properly and there is more than a little hemostatic effect from the pencil. I would not recommend this shavette to anyone especially those new to wet shaving as they develop a horrible technique that tries to get the razor to go through the shave and probably end up half decapitated if they use a real razor to get! My Shavette experience might not have been so negative if I had actually received the stainless steel model I ordered.
