I bought this collar to keep my cat from catching birds and lizards. I have tried using colored collars and it has helped on birds but not lizards. So I thought I'd give it a try. I wasn't sure if it would work or not and several friends told me they didn't think it would work and that I was wasting my money. In my case it seems to work. I only use it when I'm outside with my cat. I turned on maximum vibration (#9). The first day I sat outside and waited until I saw her chasing a bird. As soon as she ran towards him and almost grabbed him, I pressed a button on the remote control. She stopped immediately and ran away from the bird. Another time I was late and saw her with a hummingbird in her mouth. I pressed the button but she ran under the house. I kept pressing the button. She came out from under the house with a bird in her mouth. I approached her and continued to press the button. She got distracted and let me get close enough to take the bird away from her. I thought he was dead but when I opened my hand he flew away! Another time I saw her with a lizard. I pressed the remote control several times and it released. He didn't hurt himself. So it works, but you have to be with the animal. I hope she eventually stops chasing creatures, but that can't be the case since she's still young. At the same time, it seems to help A LOT. A note: if you press the vibrate button on the remote control, it will stop after about 8 seconds. Then wait a few seconds and click on it again. Keep pressing the button. There will be this delay, but if it stops, just wait a few seconds and try again. That will work. I am very happy with this purchase. I didn't want an electric collar because I didn't want to hurt her and I wanted something small because she's a very small cat.
