This is an excellent substrate, although significantly overpriced. I love the dark vibe it gives my tank. This is exactly the look I was looking for. I am very glad that I washed them thoroughly. I hosed them down in the backyard and laid them out on a flat table to dry for about an hour and then repeated. It took a total of three rinses before the water was almost clear. I still get a bit of dust when shoveling gravel, but that clears up quickly. Be sure to run your fingers over the gravel as you rinse. I found at least 5 snails in my gravel. I don't know how they got there but I'm glad I got them out before heading to my aquarium! I would look elsewhere for lower prices first but would buy again if I needed more.
