This is an excellent charge controller. Installation has been clearly outlined in the user manual with factory preset charging programs covering most battery charging points. Programs can be easily installed using small DIP switches. If you prefer to use a dedicated solar charging program (ie total charge voltage of 15.0 volts with a 13.4 volt float charge), you can download Morningstar's PC software and enter the charge points manually. There are 3 LEDs of different colors on the front of the device. that let you know how your system works. The LEDs inform you about the state of charge of your battery, the phase of the charging process (Bulk, PWM, Float and Equalize) and if the batteries are running low. You'll have to look up the instruction manual the first few times to decipher the light, but it's easy once you know what you're looking for. Also, the LEDs will flash different colors to indicate different errors. Finally, when LEDs are too complicated or frustrating for the owner, Morningstar makes an LCD display that shows you the same thing as LEDs, only in digital form. I haven't used it personally, but it's nice to know that if I want a remote digital display in my cabin, I can do it instead of trudging in the rain in the garage to see how the system works . This is the second charge controller I'm using for my standalone cabin and I'm very happy with it. My previous charge controller (Xantrex C60) broke down within a week and the customer service was terrible. Xantrex was made in China and the quality showed. Morningstar is made in Taiwan and is better and stronger than Xantrex. I will update if Morningstar has any issues in the future.
