Review on Canon EOS SLR Camera Lens EF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM by Aneta Kaska ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Exactly as promised by the manufacturer, high quality.

While I won't dispute the quality of the lens, I do want to bring up an issue with the image stabilization. Perhaps it's my camera's lens. When the aperture is fully open, the stabilizer functions properly. If we change the aperture setting from its default of f/4 to, say, f/10, the stabilized photographs become blurry. In most cases, disabling IS results in superior photo quality. After each shot, the image in the viewfinder is pushed to the side, and the stabilizer resets to its original focus position within a second. When I press and hold the depth-of-field preview button (or close the aperture) just before snapping a photo, the issue is alleviated to some extent, and the resulting images are sharp. But, it probably needs to be shipped back for servicing. 03/29/2022 ADDITION SIVMA service fixed the lens free of charge because it was still covered by the original warranty. The microcircuit was flawed right out of the box. At this point, we are experiencing normalcy. From three to five stars from me.

Pros
  • Versatility
Cons
  • Issues with the Stabilizer (see comments).
