These cutting discs are not the cheapest on the market. BUT this is not the kind of thing you should buy based on price alone. A thin, solid object rotating at high speed should not be taken lightly. My research has shown that Makita blades have a decent safety record and my past use of this blade has confirmed this. I cut several thicknesses and even had a little recoil (my fault - turned the blade) with no issues. I'm still on the first blade after a dozen cuts and it's still ready to go. just be careful This is a very thin blade and it binds easily. But that is the nature of cutting wheels.
