Read it. Can save you a lot of headaches.

Bought my 2003 Buick LeSabre used and only found a paper filter with no support frame in the passenger side air duct. It can be found by opening the hood, look to the left, on the top passenger side firewall, under the windshield wiper - you'll see two plastic latches that open a black plastic door about the size of your palm is to get there cabin filter. Inside, I noticed that the cabin filter assembly with plastic bracket was missing. There was just a useless clogged paper filter. Lots of dirt and mold with crevices making it unusable for air filtration. I wince that there might be air ducts in the car in the cabin. Also, I saw how to change the cabin air filter on YouTube, the guy actually does the same thing and stuffs a paper filter in without the plastic bracket on the frame to hold the filter. You really need that plastic filter. Paper filter holder if you don't already have one. All you have to do is, if it's missing, buy that new product. It slides and snaps straight into place - it won't go anywhere. Do you see the part in the photo where the wide part of the filter is surrounded by a gray foam pad? This is the part that faces down and slides in first until it snaps into place. After that, if the filter gets dirty in the future, you only have to replace the paper part of the filter - unless you want to rip it out completely. and insert a new assembly in place of the paper filter. Check your car first. Open that little black door/lid and take a look. If you only see a paper filter, take it out and clean the entire connection area. Then purchase this product to install as an assembly. If you see a plastic frame there, you probably don't need to buy this product. Just buy a paper filter and replace this part. I suspect the previous owner replaced it with an idiot who tried to take the plastic frame out and broke the original. He must have installed a filter and figured that in a few years nobody would notice. Hope that helps.
