What a good mirror! I don't always sit down and do my makeup in the same place every day, so I love that I can quickly and easily move it from my dresser to my desk, room to desk to room, etc. It's big enough to see your full face, but compact overall. I almost always carry it in my bag when I travel. I even put it on my lap to do my makeup while driving! When you receive the package, the mirror and base are separated, so the mirror part snaps into the slot on the base. It's very easy to slide all the way in and once installed it's very strong. The mirror can be plugged into an outlet - it comes with a USB cable but has no plug so you will need your own plug. . It can also be powered by 3 AA batteries with no difference in performance. The mirror swivels up and down (instead of side to side), which is handy. There is an on/off switch on the back and a circle on the underside of the mirror that can be touched to switch between 3 different tones of light. Light tones such as light white, mid/neutral/soft white and a more yellowish tone. I like this feature because if I know I'm outside, under fluorescent lights, or in a dimly lit dining room, I can apply makeup with the appropriate lighting setting, knowing my makeup will look best in that lighting (Did that make sense?). I really like that the base works like a tray. You always end up losing or dropping small brushes, Qtips or other items, so driving those things in is ideal. Another great feature is that the small doors close because I feel like without any kind of coating vanity mirrors always get sooo dirty and the doors on this mirror definitely help to keep the mirror clean. I think I only have two complaints, but that's not the case. It really is bad enough to make me give less stars. First, the power cord is short. Maybe a maximum of 24 inches? This can be stated in the description. It would be nice to have an extra foot of cord. Another thing is that if you are in a room with less ambient light, the mirror light can be too bright. All in all I highly recommend this mirror! I have actually given a few gifts and the recipients love their mirror too!
