Good entry-level lens

After a long and careful study of the Nikon D5000 and its 18-55mm "kit lens" zoom lens, I came to the conclusion that I needed something more powerful to use as an everyday lens and avoid frequent lens washing or worse. between critical moments when you need to be busy composing and photographing subjects from different distances. Of course the first choice was the Nikon 18-200mm, but since I saw a pretty clear difference in price I decided to use the dpreview test on this lens (the overall verdict was very similar to Nikon) and save (half of the price in comparison). to Nikon)) and use it for other useful things (flashlight, prime lens). I've spent 18 months taking almost 8000 shots with this lens as a day lens and I can safely say that this type of superzoom lens should be in everyone's possession. as an entry-level lens. I'm sure the pros will have multiple lenses and something much more expensive to suit their needs, but for the general public, hobbyists and beginners this is more than anyone could ask for. I would have to step back to take a picture (I was too close to the subject), but the zoom compensates for that easily. The image can be blurry at a certain distance, but that's generally not a problem unless you examine it carefully. The built-in pop-up flashlight on the camera will be an issue as it sticks out too much and casts a shadow. Using an external flashlight is highly recommended, but you can get creative with other settings to avoid using a flashlight. It works great in well-lit places and saves a lot of frames in dark environments thanks to its built-in OS feature. The autofocus can be a little slow at times and can sometimes lose track when it's in focus and end up focusing on the wrong subject, but you can easily change that. Like many superzoom lenses, it creates distortion at various levels (due to the design), but programs like Lightroom allow you to correct both distortion and chromatic aberration. An added benefit of using this type of superzoom lens is that you can use it as a passable wide-angle lens (18mm, 24mm on a Nikon DX camera) and cover a larger area. that lens on top of him, but now he feels more of that comforting weight than anything else. Happy photo! You won't regret that this is your first lens.

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
