I used this in a fairly small den in my basement, about 14ft by 10ft, as a supplemental heat source. But to be honest, I keep the house heat very low, and even less in this room, so in the cave the house heat comes on very rarely. This is the only electric heater I've found with 3 real heat settings (different wattages); 750, 1125 and 1500. I set the temperature for each heater (this is important) to 62 degrees. The heater heats up to 63, turns off and on again when the temperature drops and touches 61. I can add that this is very stable and again can be achieved at any of the three heat output settings. This is a very good temperature drop and is extremely difficult to find in heaters of any type. The fan speed increases as the power increases, the sound is quiet and smooth; In my opinion, this is not objectionable. The 3R makes my little man cave very comfortable, although I only use it when I'm there for work or watching TV. I live in Michigan where there are real winters. It's January now and my basement man cave drops to 52 degrees when it's really cold outside, again considering I keep my house around 60-62 degrees. My wife and I are just adding another layer. Dress. Much cheaper than overheating. We're both 74 years old, young and active, so we're usually active both outside and at home. There's a lot of detail here, but for many of us when we're looking for something like this, we need questions as those answers are nowhere to be found.
