I am absolutely upset with this purchase! I had high hopes that this would be a quality mulch for my iguana. At first everything was fine and I was happy, but after a while I noticed small red and black mites all over the tank! And my poor iguana was infested too, they are very difficult to get rid of and it was causing me a lot of stress along with my iguana! I even cooked the mulch before putting it in my tank and I still have mites, I don't know how they survived the cooking but it's very stressful. I will no longer buy mulch or use it on my iguana. I probably won't go outside and use it as a fertilizer for my plants in the summer. I highly recommend staying away from any type of mulch for your reptiles, and if you need some sort of bedding, use a reptile blanket with alfalfa granules. I would take photos, but it's very difficult to get photos of tiny, dust-sized mites.
