then there aren't many better options for the money

I bought one of these to replace an SMH-5 I had for six or seven years and ended up returning it. On its own, this is a fully discoverable headset, and if you need group intercom capabilities on a regular basis, there aren't many better options for the money. 99% of the time I ride alone or in pairs and the trade-offs just weren't worth it for me. Compared to my $75 SMH-5 with $15 upgraded speakers, this headset didn't have the volume or sound quality to enjoy music and podcasts while driving. When driving on the freeway with earbuds on, even the maximum volume wasn't enough to hear what people were saying (which is possible on my SMH-5 at <100% volume), and the music sounds great at this volume. distorted. I really hoped I would like my upgrade, but at the end of the day I figured I'd rather get my $165 back and keep the SMH-5, which served what I needed a little better. If I start riding in groups more, maybe I'll come back.
