Review on πŸ”’ Enhance Comfort and Convenience with Westinghouse Lighting 7787000 Ceiling Fan and Light Remote Control in White by Josh Culotta

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Insufficient dimming, insufficient bulb output, long delay time

I bought this because the ceiling fan in my room at my parents house was driving me crazy and I wanted to turn it down. And unfortunately, the house only had three wires to the fan, meaning it couldn't be controlled with an external dimmer without digging up the attic to run new wires, forcing me to use a ceiling dimmer (as opposed to a wall dimmer that I use at home). It works, at least by some definition of work, but it's seriously not what I expected. Specifically: 1. When you turn on the switch on the wall, the light will stay off for a full second before turning on again. This is completely unacceptable from a safety point of view.2. The max power supported on the lighting side is bullshit. This controller has a maximum power limit of only 190W for incandescent bulbs. A standard five light ceiling fan is typically 60-75 watts per bulb, which equates to 300-375 watts. In other words, it cannot be used with every ceiling fan unless you use LED bulbs. The claim that it is incandescent compatible is simply not true. In fact, I don't think you could find bulbs with a low enough wattage to use for a five light fixture. They should be under 40 watts per bulb, which is the lowest wattage I've seen! The dimmability is also a complete joke. It dims the lamps to about half their normal brightness. No one in their right mind would consider this acceptable. I don't know which product to recommend but I would definitely not recommend this product to anyone as it is currently in development. It's not even close to good enough.
