As some have mentioned, this shoe is a more or less well made water shoe that you can get at Target or Walmart for $10. But I like the laces, not the elastic laces on most water shoes. If you have a wide foot then it will fit. I usually get a 9.5 so based on the manufacturer's description I went up a half size and it fits great. The upper feels pleasantly soft, while the sole is thin and rubbery. Seems like it keeps grip well even when wet. But I wouldn't want to walk in it. When people say minimalist, they really mean minimalism. There's no arguing about the weight either (12.4 ounces for a pair of size 10, half for each shoe of course). If you're going anywhere you need an ultra-lightweight water shoe that looks like a regular shoe that's just right for you (e.g. if you're backpacking and need to wear a pair of shoes for the occasional river crossing in addition to the hiking shoes ). Overall I like the shoes but I'm not sure if they cost $100. **EDIT** After two weeks of ownership: They look very similar to the Merrell Vapor Glove sneakers (which sell for $80) but the Xeros seem to be a bit more reliable. And unlike the Merrell, the Xero's insoles can be removed (so they dry faster) or replaced (with something softer or stiffer so you don't feel the sharp rocks on the road/trail). I still find it hard to justify the price but it's growing on me but I think my initial 3 star rating was probably unfair. up to 4 stars.
