Can't trust a good timer

I had an earlier version of this timer that worked fine for a few years but the timer/starter broke after a while. I bought this (Heavy Duty) hoping it could last longer. The timer/starter hasn't broken after a few months of use, but the timer itself has proven very unreliable. He usually seems to turn things off when he should, but quite often he doesn't turn them back on when he should. Simply turning the timer on a 24-hour cycle will usually turn the power back on after rotating 360 degrees, but that's hardly battery life. To my knowledge, this is a downgrade from GE's previous light-duty version.
