I had to find a way to connect my old VHS to my new TV/surround sound system as the VHS only had a composite RCA (Red, White, Yellow) output and the receiver had an HDMI connection required to function. I doubted how these little boxes could convert the input to HDMI, but after reading the reviews I decided to give it a try. It worked! To be honest the quality of VHS tapes is pretty pathetic compared to HDTV but we have a lot of old movies on VHS and we can watch them now. Power Supply - The device comes with a short USB to mini USB cable (NOT micro USB on most modern devices). The cable is very short so make sure you can place the converter close to an outlet - this shouldn't be a big deal as RCA composite cables and HDMI cables can be quite long. Once connected you can choose to output 1080p or 720p (not sure what the difference is with VHS). When you switch from one to the other, it takes about five seconds for the image to appear. So be patient. The instructions are very rudimentary and limited, but really not much is needed. Haven't tried it with a high quality signal like a cable box so can't say how well it works with a high definition input.
