I started quilting 25 years ago and have only ever used a Kai knife. I only bought another one because I dropped my trusty one and broke it. I looked at other brands and almost bought an orange but came home from the store and ordered another Kai instead. I'm so glad I did. This with rubber buffers fits well in the hand and gives some support when pressing. I like that a little pressure is enough to expose the blade. This allows for ultra-fast access and automatic safety retraction. A simple design with no loop handle or extra protrusions will make your life easier. Those with other quirky features may seem attractive, but don't let the deceptively simple Kai fool you. Here's another 25 years!
