I wanted to write this because like most of you I was a skeptic. I don't claim to be an audiophile, but I know what a good speaker system sounds like. I wanted to connect an outdoor system for my large patio and pool. I was trying not to overspend, so I first bought Yamaha speakers for about $100 each. I plugged them in at my house and decided to return them. They didn't have the reach or clarity I was looking for. I started doing some more research and came up with a pretty nice setup. I bought 2 Def Tech 5500 amps ($320) and a Dayton Audio APA150 amp. I think the amp was the real deal as I found a $100 sale but they sell for $150 all over the internet. I used an Amped BTSA1 ($55) to connect the system to my smartphone via Bluetooth, and that's about all I can say. The sound is so clear, no distortion. It was very easy to hook up with 14 gauge wire. The speakers have great bass sound and I have yet to find a floorstanding speaker with as much bass as they do. denial of responsibility. does not hum like a subwoofer. You can probably add a subwoofer to the system, but you'll need to add another APA150 as it's only 2 channels. I thought the Def Tech speakers were listed as 175 watts so you could probably buy 2 APA150 amps and hook up one of each if you want more volume. I think the volume is more than enough for my house because my wife tells me that if I turn it up to the max she will be very mad at me as the neighbors will probably complain. For comparison, I was at my sister's house, she has an expensive SONOS system, and this one kicked her ass. Buy them with confidence as I don't think there can be a better setup for around $550.
