The quality of these pads is excellent. I shopped at a local hardware store and found that the equivalent doorstop cost a lot more. I recently replaced all my door handles with brushed nickel and installed them in place of the old brass door stops. For the most part I was able to use the existing holes, but a few holes were damaged so I had to move the doorstop a bit. My baseboards are pine so I didn't have to drill a pilot hole, but if you're dealing with harder wood you might have to. They went in easily and the 3" length was perfect.
