I ordered these to replace aging transom straps for my boat and boat trailer. Upon arrival i noticed that the hooks are less substantial than the set i was replacing (hooks on new straps are thinner). The strap itself feels like smooth seatbelt material which concerned me a little bit because the cam bar was smooth and had no knurling to grip the strap. The cam handle also was less substantial and much thinner than my original. Also, the protective strap piece on the back on the cam is barely wide enough to prevent the cam from rubbing on the hull.I have used these transom straps for my last two launches and so far I am very disappointed. The plastic/vinyl coating on the hooks is already worn off in certain spots and rust is visible and growing even though these never touch the water. These things will slip if you dont have your bow strapped down VERY tight, the two times I have used these they have slipped even though these are rated for my boat. I can only assume that they slip due to bumps and such on the road causing the trailer to bounce.I would not recommend these transom straps.
