These things are very useful. I noticed some wear on the ends of my cranks and decided to give it a try. Not only do they protect the ends of the cranks from rock chips, but they also add some color to an area of the bike that doesn't have a lot of it. I only gave 4 stars because they didn't fit right away. If you heat them (in boiling water or with a heat gun - be careful not to melt them) you can place them on the handles and then dip them in ice water and they will shrink into a perfect shape for your particular handles. I definitely recommend them to all mountain bikers who spend some time in rocky terrain.
