I bought this unit after trying and returning a similar product from Magewell called Ultra Stream. This product was significantly more expensive ($378) but literally did everything for you, which also meant the user had no real control over what happened to the encoded file. This product from URay is great. I actually only got my device back because I switched to their WiFi enabled device. It's a very basic machine, but with a lower price tag and a lot of control. So much control that it can be overwhelming (as it was for me). Things you should consider or know before choosing this product: 1. How to change your device's IP address and gateway to access this device's web interface settings2. How to change device IP address and gateway to send data through router properly3. How to properly configure video encoding settings to achieve maximum image quality and reliability4. Note that h.265 is not compatible with RTMP streaming. This is basically basic networking. I never made networks before buying. I have always been assigned an IP address via DHCP server. Now I know how to change it and I know how to access the settings. Once I knew that, it was easy for me to know how to assign a new IP address to a device and change its gateway to my router's gateway. The encoder settings were a LONG learning process for me. I only recently found out what GOP length is and how changing it can affect the video stream. At first I thought they gave me a broken device and then I thought I had a broken router. There was also a learning moment for me when I realized that the reason I couldn't access my RTMP feed was that I was trying to encode with h.265 which is incompatible with RTMP. Their support team was very patient with me and helped me to discover this. What I'm left with is an incredible device that gives me complete control over video encoding options. It's been a little over a week since I received the device to learn enough about how it works to get it working for my use case (YouTube and Facebook live streams). The device itself is very durable. The body is metal and very well assembled. While the Magewell Ultra Stream was plastic and got very hot, this device barely felt warm after two hours of testing at 1080p60. Unbelievable! One last thing to mention: Magewell advertised the ability to record to a USB stick and stream at the same time, while this device doesn't. However, this does not mean that it is impossible. This device encodes two streams - the main stream and the secondary stream. I can do what the Magewell device advertises but better by using the main stream to encode the 1080p60 stream in super high quality with h.265 at a high bitrate and setting my second stream to encode 720p60 with encoded with h.264 at a more reliable bitrate. The x264 stream goes to my rtmp server (and in the eyes of my viewers) while my x265 feed is captured via rtsp with ffmpeg and saved to disk. Excavation. You have full control over the settings, which means you have full control to prevent the device from working if you don't know what you're doing.
