Water was constantly flowing in my toilet. I thought it was the valve but after replacing it there was no difference. Then I realized the sleeve around that knee leading into the bowl had become a mess. It was the first moment of rejection. After receiving this Kohler part, I turned off the water, flushed the toilet to empty the tank, and carefully unscrewed the old part, which pulled out easily. If you look at the first photo you can see another reason why this part failed. The plastic tabs holding it in place were loose and cracked. They just fell off. Perhaps they were braced during installation by the previous owner. I do not know. Most likely it is intentional obsolescence. The last issue I have with this part is that it is very difficult to install. It takes more force than I need to squeeze the sleeve and twist the part in place without breaking the tabs! Finally, I used a couple of washers to gradually compress the hub until I could spin it. Next time I need this part I will look for a better replacement!
