Good quality product.

This flush valve kit does the job. You need to know what you are doing and how much pressure you are using to compress the rubber gasket before screwing it into place. That's the best advice I can give. I'm no power superman, but I use brains, not brawn, when doing chores, and that's usually the way to go. Read the instructions, don't improvise, take your time, and don't use excessive force. Once you've removed the old valve, feel it in the waterway to determine the notches for the tabs and the

Compression Gasket with AC Clamp

Attempting to install the assembly from the box was not possible due to the thickness and stiffness of the gasket. I pressed a pad under a board and a 50-pound dumbbell for 24 hours. No luck: the gasket was too thick to allow rotation in the tank. So I placed a spacer between the two circuit boards and the AC terminal. I tightened until I could no longer tighten the clamp. After 10 minutes I removed the clamp, lubricated both surfaces of the gasket with silicone grease, quickly reattached it to

Difficult to install and failsafe

Water was constantly flowing in my toilet. I thought it was the valve but after replacing it there was no difference. Then I realized the sleeve around that knee leading into the bowl had become a mess. It was the first moment of rejection. After receiving this Kohler part, I turned off the water, flushed the toilet to empty the tank, and carefully unscrewed the old part, which pulled out easily. If you look at the first photo you can see another reason why this part failed. The plastic tabs…

Great product, difficult to install

Great product, difficult to install! Here's what I did to install the new flush valve after removing the old flush valve: 1. Drain the tank as much as possible.2. Remove the flapper from the valve kit and set aside for easier installation.3. Remove the pad from the Vale Kit and soak it in warm soapy water for 10 minutes - the factor's secret tip for 30 minutes didn't help me much. There was still too much friction between the gasket and the tank surface to turn the valve when the gasket was…

My Experience Installing a Replacement Flush Valve Assembly

After reading some reports of how hard it was to compress the foam pad, I took on the task with some trepidation. But I found it surprisingly uneventful -- and I'm a homeowner who eschews anything to do with plumbing and water. I have a Kohler Rialto K3386 one-piece toilet. After reading that the plastic tabs can break, I decided to purchase a kit that includes the flush valve assembly, a new gasket, and a new flapper. Removing the old assembly turned out to be quite easy. I have small hands…

Easy to install

I installed this in about 10 minutes including the time it took to flush the tank and remove the old part. The only difficulty is that you insert the piece and gasket into the wall of the toilet bowl where the hole is and then try to screw it down. So basically you're really using force to push it as hard as you can into the front wall of the tank as you rotate it to the locked position. Lubricate the wall and face of the seal with silicone grease if needed and it's very, very easy and you…

Somewhat complicated setup. but it's done

Hey Gang - First of all, thanks to many great reviews and tips here I was able to install it at all. Our toilet is a Kohler Rialto 3386 so as you all know this is the correct flush valve. The attached photo shows the items I needed in addition to what was included in the Kohler kit. From left to right: a Dremel tool with a sanding attachment, a small pry bar, heavy-duty gloves, and plumbing silicone grease. The first problem arose during a trial installation of a new flush valve. Despite the…
