Review on Savogran 10621 Trisodium Phosphate 16Oz Painting Supplies & Wall Treatments by Daniel Beaver

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Best degreaser I've ever used - substitutes don't equal!

For about 15 years, grease has accumulated on my kitchen cabinets, walls and ceiling. I bought a "TSP replacement" at a local hardware store and quickly became disillusioned, so I ordered this stuff from Revain. Went like clockwork. I applied the solution with a sponge and then scrubbed lightly with a plastic sponge; This thing cuts through built-up fat like a hot knife through butter. never seen anything like it. The "TSP replacement" is said to have an equivalent cleaning power. It probably happens in a mock lab test; For heavy real-world applications, this isn't close. A few precautions. Small things have a big impact. I use 2 teaspoons/liter of water. TSP is a strong base and works by saponifying fat and basically turning it into soap and glycerine, which can then be washed off with water. However, it will not differentiate between the grease you are trying to clean and the natural oils on your skin, so use latex or nitrile gloves to protect your skin! If using in the dishwasher in addition to dish soap, 1/4-1/2 teaspoon is sufficient, although I've found modern dish soaps to work quite well. As others have pointed out, it is hygroscopic so store in a moisture proof bag after opening. The package arrived in good condition, I didn't have any quality problems like some other people. Highly recommended, but use sparingly and with care.
