Ms. is finally happy - both televisions work

We have all home cinema equipment in the living room on the entertainment console and the television is in the dining room. I routed the HDMI cable and IR repeater through the basement floor and into the dining room, into the TV wall. The trail isn't that long, about 60-70 feet, but it has given us problems over the years. I used different active signal boosters etc and it worked for a while until it stopped and had to be restarted a bit etc. When we upgraded each TV to 4k the cable was out of order. more. I upgraded the cable and that helped for a while, but all cable and signal interference is gone. Finally, this device allows us to have a clean signal in both rooms. I ran 23 AWG Cat6 cable (as ethernet cables go) - same mileage 65 feet. Both ends plugged in - short 6ft 18GB HDMI cables connected to transmitter and repeater and now everyone is happy. Of all the home theater equipment I've bought over the years, this may be the best investment I've made. I no longer had to complain about the loss of signal in the cafeteria or teach my wife a new method. I figured out how to reset every booster I connected to the line. It works now, and the lack of a bulky HDMI cable running through the ceiling of my basement workshop is an added benefit. Can't comment on the functionality of the IR as we're still using the original wired IR kit I installed 10 years ago.

Pros
  • There's something to that
Cons
  • Minor problems
