Review on πŸ”Š Sony HTX8500 2.1ch Dolby Atmos/DTS:X Soundbar with Integrated Subwoofer in Black by Eduardo Long

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Unique speaker value

The market for soundbars without an external subwoofer is very small. And even less if you want better than the "simple" options. This product is unique in that it has a built-in subwoofer and is compatible with Dolby Atmos. In addition, the price is lower than the mainstream products of many respected professional brands such as Bose or Sonos. During the study, many reviewers noted that the sound is not very good; it is fuzzy and "square" especially in the midrange at high volume. But those same reviewers also don't refer to their room size or viewing position. For a 200-square-foot room, the soundbar gets too loud before there are sound quality issues. Positioned 2.5 to 3 meters in front of the TV, the soundbar delivers everything that is advertised. Speech enhancement and night mode work great. And the vertical sound simulation, which works with any input, is great, although its range is limited. Also, as many have said, it lacks tuning options, but I don't think that's the target market - people who are so into fine-tuning their settings. You get this if you agree to pick a preset mode and maybe toggle some settings and let it do the rest. At its price point, you just hope the TV's built-in speakers can't, and it's significantly better than the basic stuff for less than half its price to justify the extra cash. And the soundbar definitely meets these requirements.

Pros
  • High support and durability ratings from testers
Cons
  • Zero
