The first package arrived with broken bulbs. This is not the fault of the manufacturer or seller. However, when the replacement came, I have to say I wasn't happy with the heat. My laser thermometer indicated that the surface temperature of the element was over 500ºF within five minutes. However, the radiation was not sufficient for my taste. My hand, three inches from me, was barely warm. If you're trying to heat up a hamster then seriously this is a good compromise. The animal will find its ideal distance and be content. But if you try to radiate a few feet of heat, you'll be disappointed. Now I decided to add a small computer fan nearby to disperse the heat a bit and it worked pretty well.
