Glad I purchased the product as hand/finger pressure alone does not hold the joinery in place during assembly. However, it can definitely split wood if you're not careful with the pressure applied. You'll have to adjust the tension a bit for each placement, but one day it will really hold your pocket hole in place so you can secure others. Definitely "does what it says on the tin". Keep in mind that your classic/famous carpentry tools aren't priced that high, so you might want to stay in the family for a few bucks if you really trust the originals.
